Sunglint on the Alabama Stream

.In this particular June 26, 2023, image taken from the International Spaceport station, sun light polishes off the hassle-free waters of the Alabama Waterway in a phenomenon called sunglint. When photographing Planet, astronauts typically benefit from sunglint's tendency to improve the contrast between water areas as well as surrounding property areas. In the 1960s, the Alabama Stream was actually hindered, generating Dannelly Reservoir (the large polishing place at center left). Building of the dam also reared water levels upriver. This caused flooding at several points along the stream. These flooded zones are traditional of flood plains-- the low, standard locations quickly next to larger streams. In this particular graphic, disaster area look like uneven, vivid designs expanding off of the waterway, like at Gee's Bend (center base).Text Debt: Justin Wilkinson.Image Credit: NASA/Woody Hoburg.
